Round Glass Punjab Hockey Academy wins bronze medal in 7th SNBP Hockey Tournament, Mohali News in Hindi

Mohali. Round Glass Punjab Hockey Academy has won the Bronze Medal in the 7th SNBP All India Hockey Tournament (Boys Under-16) held at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune from 1-7 October 2023.
Making their debut in the Hockey India recognized tournament, the RGPHA Colts put in a tremendous performance by winning four out of their five games. But, they lost 3-4 to eventual champions Army Sports Boys Company Bengaluru in a thrilling semi-final. They then defeated hosts SNBP Hockey Academy, Pune 5-1 in the bronze medal match to clinch a deserved medal.

RGPHA’s Amandeep Singh won the Best Defender of the Tournament award and also became their highest goal scorer in the tournament by scoring 12 goals, while the team received a prize money of over Rs 30,000 for their efforts.
After Amandeep, Samuel was the second highest goalscorer for RGPHA with nine goals, while the goalkeeping duo of Sahajdeep Singh and Jeevan played a stellar role in the championship and kept the goal post safe, conceding only nine goals. The team scored 51 balls. In the final, Army Boys won the gold medal by defeating Dhyan Chand Hockey Academy 4-3. Delighted with the outcome, Rajinder Singh (Sr.), Technical Head, RGPHA, said, “At Round Glass Sports, we have been at the forefront of reviving the once powerful and successful sports culture in Punjab and channelizing the energy of the youth. Such achievements are a huge boost to our mission and inspire us to work even harder. The RGPHA boys played an aggressive and attractive style of hockey that won hearts. We congratulate the team, coach and support staff for this victory. We wish them to see more glorious days ahead and we pledge to continue supporting them in every possible way.
The RGPHA team initially won both its pool games easily, defeating Anwar Hockey Academy, Pratapgarh 27-0. They then dominated the State Sports Hostel, Jhansi 6-2 to win their quarter-final match. In the semi-finals, despite taking an early lead through a penalty corner, the RGPHA team could not hold on and were defeated by the Army boys in a seven-goal thriller. A total of 24 teams from 15 states participated in the all-India tournament, where a total prize money of Rs 3.80 lakh was distributed.
