New Delhi : Luxury two wheeler maker Royal Enfield is preparing to launch the much awaited Himalayan 450 in the Indian bike market. The manufacturer has released an official teaser for the motorcycle on social media. In this, it can be seen walking in some difficult snowy areas. The Himalayan 450 is one of the most important products for Royal Enfield and will be positioned above the existing Himalayan, which comes with a 411 cc engine.
Power Output and Engine
The power output hasn’t been revealed yet, but it is expected to make around 40-45 Bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be tuned for low and mid-end grunt, so that it revs without facing any strain on the engine. Moreover, the low-end grunt also helps while off-roading. The new engine is expected to come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The current generation Himalayan draws power from its oil-cooled 411 cc, long-stroke engine that produces around 25 Bhp of power and 32 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Himalayan Design
The Himalayan 411 is known for its function rather than form design and it is believed that the Himalayan 450 will have something similar. The front gets a front guard along with a large windscreen. There is also an outer safe guard provided to protect the motorcycle to some extent in case of a fall. There is also ‘Royal Enfield’ badging on the safe guard and riders are expected to be able to fit a jerry can on it like the current Himalayan.
Suspension & Brakes
The suspension duties on the Himalayan 450 will be handled by upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking setup will include disc brakes at both the ends. Switchable ABS is also expected to be on offer. It will feature a circular digital instrument cluster, which is expected to be a new unit.
Himalayan 450 Price
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle is expected to be priced much higher than the 411 model currently on sale. The current model costs Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The new generation motorcycle is likely to be priced above Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
