Team India, batting first in the third T20 match against Australia in Guwahati on Tuesday, scored a mountain-like score of 222 runs. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad played a brilliant century innings. He scored unbeaten 123 runs on 57 balls.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has become the first Indian batsman to score a century in T20 against Australia. Opener Gaikwad hit a lot of fours and sixes against the Australian bowlers at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Gaikwad destroyed many records in the deciding match of the series.
Gaikwad scored his first T20 century
Reviving India’s innings in the decider of the five-match series, opener Gaikwad and captain Suryakumar took the Men in Blue to 80-2 within the first 10 overs. Gaikwad completed his half-century in 32 balls. Changing gears in the death overs, Gaikwad completed his century in the next 20 balls.
Joined the elite club of Rohit and Kohli
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Gaikwad created history in the shortest format of the game. He scored his first T20 International century in 52 balls. Gaikwad joins players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in an exclusive club of those who have scored centuries for India in T20Is.
First Indian to score a T20 century against Australia
Gaikwad is the sixth Indian to score a T20 century in the last two years. The 26-year-old player remained unbeaten after scoring 123 runs in 57 balls. Due to which India scored 222-3 runs in 20 overs. Gaikwad became the first Indian to score a century against Australia.
Second in terms of highest T20 scorer
Gaikwad recorded the second highest individual score for India in T20 cricket. His inning of 123 runs is second only to Shubman Gill’s brilliant 126* against New Zealand.
After an easy win over Australia in the second T20 match, Suryakumar Yadav and company made a change in their line-up and fast bowler Avesh Khan was included in the team in place of Mukesh Kumar. India also confirmed Deepak Chahar as Mukesh’s replacement.
Mukesh Kumar has taken a break for his marriage. India were reduced to 24-2 after being invited to bat first in the Guwahati encounter as youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Ishan Kishan (0) failed to deliver for the hosts against Australia.
Gaikwad hit 13 fours and 7 sixes
But later Suryakumar Yadav played a quick inning of 39 runs. After that Gaikwad took the responsibility of hitting the ball. Tilak Verma gave him full support. Gaikwad hit 13 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. Tilak scored 31 runs on 24 balls.
