Rybakina defeated Sakari; Azarenka reaches semi-finals with win over Putintseva – Dainik Savera Times

Florida: 2023 finalist and No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina returned to the Miami Open semifinals with a 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-4 win over No. 8 seed Maria Sakkari. Despite winning the first set, and recovered from that deficit in the second set to earn two match points in the 10th game – but failed to convert.
According to the WTA report, the match went into a deciding set and Rybakina did not give Sakkari a chance this time. They made it to the last four with a 6-4 win. Rybakina will have to defeat three-time tournament champion Victoria Azarenka to reach the final at Hard Rock Stadium for the second consecutive year. Former world No. 1 Azarenka defeated another Kazakh, Yulia Putintseva, in a three-set quarterfinal earlier on Tuesday.
No. 27 seed Azarenka took 2 hours and 55 minutes to defeat unseeded Putintseva and reach the Miami semifinals for the fifth time in her career. Azarenka is playing Miami for the 15th time, having won the title in 2009, 2011 and 2016. She has won 43 matches in her career in this competition, ranking fifth behind Serena Williams (76), Venus Williams (67), Stefani Graf (59) and Gabriella Sabatini (45).
