South Africa won the toss in the first test match and decided to bowl first. The Indian team, which came to bat in the first innings, did not have a good start. The team was all out for 245 runs in the first innings. In response, the South African team was out for 408 in the first innings. The African team all out India for only 131 runs in the second innings.
Dean Elgar scored a century for South Africa
South Africa Dean Elgar played a century innings. Elgar faced 287 balls, in which he scored 185 runs with the help of 28 fours. Whereas Marco Jensen also played an inning of 84 runs with the help of 11 fours and one six. Due to Elgar’s century innings he was given man of the match.
India’s opening pair disappointed
The biggest reason behind India’s defeat was the poor performance of the opening pair. Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal did not do anything special in both the innings. In the first innings, only 13 runs were made between the two for the first wicket, while in the second innings only 5 runs were made. Rohit Sharma could score only 5 runs in the first innings and could not even open his account in the second innings. Whereas Jaiswal scored 17 runs in the first innings and 5 runs in the second innings.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are successful batsmen from India.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul performed well for India. KL Rahul played an inning of 101 runs in the first innings, while Virat Kohli played an inning of 38 runs in the first innings and 76 runs in the second innings.
Second test will be played from January 3
The second test match between India and South Africa will be played from January 3 to January 7. This match is to be played in Cape Town. The second match will be do or die for India. To save the series, the Indian team will have to win the match at any cost or else it will have to be done.
