Srinagar: The great Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday visited a bat manufacturing unit in South Kashmir, which is likely to provide a major boost to the industry. Tendulkar, his wife Anjali and daughter Sara visited the MJ Sports bat manufacturing unit in Charsu Awantipora on Saturday and spent about an hour.
Mohammad Shaheen, owner of MJ Sports, told ‘Univarta’, “Tendulkar’s visit will give a big boost to Kashmir willow bats, which are in great demand.” The cricket legend had a lot of information about Kashmir cricket bats and also had some questions. He was extremely impressed with the quality of our cricket bats.” Tendulkar stayed at the bat manufacturing unit for at least an hour.
There are more than 300 bat manufacturing units in South Kashmir which supply around four million cricket bats within and outside the country. The longest six of the tournament in the 2022 T20 Cricket World Cup was hit by United Arab Emirates (UAE) batsman Junaid Siddiqui with a Kashmir willow bat manufactured by GR8 Sports based in Anantnag district.
