SAI, Shooting Federation review national teams preparations for Cairo World Cup

New Delhi | Shooters from the national camp currently underway at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range (DKSSR) in the National Capital Region have decided to continue staying in the hotels where they have been put up and stay at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel shooting range. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Sunday reviewed the preparedness of the national shooting team ahead of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol starting February 17, 2023 in Cairo.
The camp, which began on February 3, is the first full-fledged camp of the year for the rifle and pistol team and is being conducted under the globally acclaimed Foreign High-Performance Director (HPD) apart from expert foreign coaches. It is a first of its kind event where all aspects of technical training, mental conditioning, sports science and physiotherapy have been taken care of to prepare the shooters for not only the busy upcoming international season but also for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Preparation can also be started. NRAI gave this information in a release on Sunday.
In this regard, SAI officials visited the team hotels on Saturday and held a virtual meeting with the coaches and athletes on Sunday to ascertain the facilities to be provided.
In the meeting, the shooters told that their stay was comfortable and the quality of food was also good. SAI offered to shift the shooters to Dr. KSSR Hostel, but the shooters have categorically stated that the hotel is the right place for them to stay and they will continue their accommodation in the hotels provided. A report on the review was also submitted by Raunak Pandit, chief national coach of pistol, on behalf of the NRAI.
The best of sports science, quality nutrition, fitness and modern physiotherapy are being harnessed by involving expert foreign coaches, sports psychology experts, physios, nutritionists and fitness trainers to groom the shooters in the best possible way.
The Rifle/Pistol National Training Camp for 84 shooters (44 men and 40 women), 12 coaches, two foreign coaches, a high performance director and nine support staff will run till February 14.
