New Delhi, circle organization: India’s veteran badminton player Saina Nehwal has withdrawn from the National Selection Trials for the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has informed on Monday that she has decided not to play the selection test due to injury and fitness.
Badminton Association of India will organize selection test competition at Jwala Gutta Academy in Telangana from 4th to 7th May. BAIH secretary Sanjay Mishra said on the occasion that Saina Nehwal will not participate in the selection test as she is completely fit. Also Kushal Raj and Prakash Raj will not play in men’s doubles pair or competition. All other players will play in the selection trial tournament to enter the Asian Championship, it was further informed by them.
Three players each will be selected for the men’s and women’s singles teams from the selection trial tournament. Both pairs will be selected from mixed doubles group. One pair each from men’s doubles and women’s doubles or both the groups will be given chances for the Asian Championship.
