Ahmedabad (Uttam Hindu News): Captain Sanju Samson (32 balls, 60 runs) and Shimron Hetmyer (26 balls, 56 not out) scored half-centuries to help Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans in an Indian Premier League (IPL) thriller on Sunday. Defeated by three wickets.
Batting first, Gujarat set a target of 178 runs in front of the Royals, which the Royals achieved with four balls to spare.
Captain Samson scored 61 runs off 32 balls with three fours and six sixes, although even after his dismissal, the Royals needed 64 runs in five overs. Hetmyer scored an innings of 56 off 26 balls from here to ensure Royals’ victory in a cut-throat contest.
Royals needed 23 runs from the last two overs of this breath-taking encounter. Mohammed Shami conceded 16 runs in the 19th over but also took the crucial wickets of Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin.
