Senior Mens Inter Department Hockey: Railways to take on PSPB in the final

Bangalore | The star-studded Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) will take on Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) in the final of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men’s Inter-Department National Championship 2023. In the first semi-final of the day, the star-studded RSPB thrashed Central Industrial Security Force 5-0 in the second semi-final while Petroleum Sports Promotion Board beat Services Sports Promotion Board 3-3 (4-2 shootout).

The first day of the competition saw four teams fighting it out for a place in the finals with RSPB and PSPB fighting it out.

In the first semi-final, Pradeep Singh scored the first goal for Railways in the 15th minute, which set the tempo for the rest of the match. He scored goals at regular intervals.

Star India defender and drag-flicker Amit Rohidas scored from a penalty corner in the 24th minute and Pradeep Singh scored in the 35th minute. Yuvraj Walmiki scored a brilliant field goal in the 37th minute while Ajit Kumar Pandey scored in the 53rd minute to hand Railway Sports Promotion Board a comfortable victory.

The match between Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) ended in a thrilling shootout, making the second semi-final a thrilling encounter.

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) eventually emerged victorious thanks to stellar performances from their strikers Maninder Singh, Talwinder Singh, Devinder Valmiki and Vikramjeet Singh, who beat their rivals 4-2 in the shootout, while their goalkeeper Pankaj Kumar Rajak hit the post. Well done to defend and get my team a place in the finals.

Both the teams played out a 3-3 draw in regulation time for the Services Sports Control Board with goals from Harman Singh (5′), Pawan Rajbhar (31′) and Sushil Dhanwar (51′).

On the other hand, SV Sunil (30′), Maninder Singh (34′) and Talwinder Singh (42′) struck back with goals for Petroleum Sports Promotion Board.(IANS)
