Lahore: Pakistan cricketer Shahnawaz Dahani’s career could be ruined after he pointed fingers at the selection committee after being ignored for the Asia Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board has reprimanded him. Even though Shahnawaz Dahani deleted his complaint tweet immediately, his screenshot went viral on social media, following which the Pakistan Cricket Board headed by Zaka Ashraf issued a verbal warning to the Pakistani bowler for making public criticism.
Shahnawaz Dahani, who played his last ODI for Pakistan in June 2022, continues to perform well in domestic cricket. In the Pakistan One Day Cup tournament in the 2022/23 season, Dahani took 17 wickets at an average of 19.82. Took 13 wickets on Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe. Also took five wickets against Nepal in the Emerging Asia Cup in Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Recently, while announcing the Pakistan team for the Asia Cup and the ODI series against Afghanistan, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq selected fast bowlers like Naseem Shah, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Junior and Shaheen Shah Afridi. After being ignored, Shahnawaz first besieged former cricketer Rashid Latif from Dahani. Rashid Latif had made a tweet, in which the recent List A records of all the fast bowlers of Pakistan were mentioned. Dahani’s name was not in that list. In such a situation, the fast bowler retweeted and wrote, ‘It seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistani pacer.’

However, Latif later apologized for the mistake. After Dahani was not included in the Asia Cup squad, Dahani tweeted, ‘Not a single journalist or cricket analyst even dared to ask questions or show these statistics to the selectors. #ripsportsjournalim’
Though he deleted both the tweets, Dahani reportedly received a call from PCB officials and was reprimanded for making such controversial comments public. With Pakistan still having time to make changes to their squad before heading into the ODI World Cup, Dahani could get a call-up or even be picked in the Asian Games squad. Let’s see what will happen to them?
