Talking on Sports Today, Akhtar said, ‘India and Pakistan will play the finals in the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup. India will come to Pakistan (for the Asia Cup) and Pakistan will also go to India for the World Cup. I sincerely hope that things will get better in between. India and Pakistan, and trade will open up. I appeal to the people of both the teams to spread positivity and bridge the gap.

The Rawalpindi Express also recalled the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup in Mohali and said that he wanted Pakistan to get ‘revenge’ from India in 2023. Shoaib Akhtar was not a part of the Pakistan XI in that semi-final. India had secured a place in the final by winning it.

Akhtar said, ‘I want to avenge the 2011 World Cup, I did not play in that match. I want to watch India vs Pakistan final in Wankhede, Ahmedabad or wherever. I will try my best to go and watch the final. Shoaib Akhtar says that there is nothing in common with BCCI and PCB. Both cannot do anything without asking their government.
