New Delhi: England middle-order batsman Harry Brook has pulled out of the 2024 edition of the IPL, starting on March 22, citing personal reasons.
Harry Brook was signed by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore in the Dubai auction last year. After Jason Roy, he is the second England player to withdraw from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.
A Cricbuzz report states that the IPL franchises are angry with the England players withdrawing in this manner citing personal reasons.
It also states that such a sudden withdrawal disrupts the auction plans of various teams.
The IPL franchises are discussing the issue with the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Brook scored only 190 runs at a low average of 21 for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023.
The report quoted a franchise official as saying, ‘Once players register for the auction, they must honor their commitments. Refraining from this is unprofessional and BCCI should take note of this.
Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Punjab Kings on March 23 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali.
