Indian shooters continued their stellar performance in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers with Yogesh Singh winning gold medals in the individual and team categories in the men’s 25m center fire pistol event on Monday. Yogesh won the individual gold with a score of 573. Oman’s Murad Al Balushi (570) stood second and Indonesia’s Anang Yulianto (567) stood third. India’s Pankaj Yadav (567) and Akshay Jain (564) stood fourth and sixth respectively. The Indian trio won the gold medal with a score of 1704 points.

Commonwealth Games gold medalist Shreyasi Singh had to settle for fifth place in the women’s trap category at the shotgun qualifiers in Kuwait. She had reached the finals with 115 points in five rounds but could score only 19 points in the finals. Wan Yu Liu (44) of Taipei got the gold medal and Xinqiu Zhang (39) of China got the silver medal. Maria Dmitrienko (30) of Kazakhstan won the bronze medal. India’s Shreyasi, Manisha Keer and Bhavya Tripathi won the silver medal in the team category with a total score of 328. China got gold and Kazakhstan got bronze.
