Shreyas Iyer out of ODI series against New Zealand due to injury

Mumbai | Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. The BCCI gave information about this on Tuesday. The BCCI said that it will approach the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included Rajat Patidar in place of Shreyas Iyer in the squad for the ODI series, the BCCI said in a statement.
Iyer batted at No.4 in the recently concluded series against Sri Lanka, scoring 28, 28 and 38 in all the matches at an average of 51.12.
The 28-year-old batsman also played a key role in India’s Test series win over Bangladesh in December last year, scoring 87 and 29 not out at Mirpur to help India win the decider.
India has to play the first ODI against New Zealand on January 18 in Hyderabad.
