Rahul’s life has been very struggling
The life of Rahul, who lives in Sikarpur near Bulandshahr in UP, has been a struggle. He lost his father at the age of just 4. After this, at the age of 10, he came to Delhi with his brother. His brother is a delivery agent in a food app company. Till the age of 13, Rahul stayed with his brother, but then his brother told him clearly that he could not bear his expenses. In such a situation, at the age of just 13, Rahul had neither a roof over his head nor bread to eat. He didn’t even have money in his pocket. He left his brother’s house after filling his clothes in his bag.
Rahul didn’t have running shoes for practice
According to Indian Express, Rahul’s journey with athletics started a little late. His landlord’s son was training for the police physical test exam and asked young Rahul if he would like to go with him. But there was a problem, they didn’t have running shoes. He somehow managed to get his first pair of canvas shoes and started training with his landlord’s son, who eventually failed to clear the exam, but Rahul kept going and won his first state medal in 2016-10 Bronze in Under-20 in km.
‘I desperately need a day job’: Rahul
Rahul still trains at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the hope of another break, but he says the night work has started taking its toll on his body. Rahul says, ‘I am in dire need of a day job which allows me to focus on my practice. Since I work all night, my body doesn’t respond well to training during the day. I need rest to recover.
