Another American player and Keys, who won the title here in 2019, also easily defeated compatriot Hailey Baptiste 6-1 6-2.
Former opener Sudhir Naik passes away, BCCI mourns
Former India opener Sudhir Naik passed away on Wednesday. 78-year-old Naik was ill for a long time and was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. The BCCI has condoled the demise of the former cricketer. He played three Tests and two ODIs for India. Sudhir also holds the record for hitting the first boundary in ODIs for India. He did this in 1974 against England at Headingley in Leeds. He led the Mumbai team in the 1970-71 season of Ranji and won the title.

MCC gave ‘lifetime membership’ to 5 Indians including MS Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina
The prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Wednesday felicitated World Cup-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni Including four other Indian international cricketers have been honored with ‘Life Membership’. Apart from Dhoni, these players include Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, former Indian women captain Mithali Raj and great women bowler Jhulan Goswami. MCC has made a total of 19 new players from eight test playing countries a part of life membership.
