Sri Lankan government dismissed the entire cricket board!

New Delhi. Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has sacked the entire staff of the National Cricket Board after a poor campaign in the World Cup 2023 and has appointed an interim committee led by Arjuna Ranatunga.
Along with 1996 World Cup-winning captain Ranatunga, the seven-member interim committee will also include three retired judges.
The decision to sack the cricket board was taken following the resignation of board secretary Mohan de Silva, who had quit due to fans’ protest in front of their headquarters on Saturday.
The Sports Minister, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 33 of the Sports Act No. 25, 1973, has appointed an interim committee until the upcoming Sri Lanka cricket elections or until further notice, reports Daily Mirror.
The report said that the interim committee has been tasked to formally investigate the alleged irregularities of the SLC board and submit a comprehensive report on legal principles.
Furthermore, the Committee is empowered to propose relevant recommendations and develop procedures to prevent the recurrence of corruption, misconduct and irregularities within the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
Sri Lanka have lost five of their seven matches in the round-robin league stage and are out of the race for the semi-finals.
Now the 1996 champions will try to finish in the top eight to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan.
