SRS in IPL: SRS comes instead of DRS in IPL!

There is a new change coming from IPL 2024 and from this year Smart Replay System (SRS) will be introduced in IPL instead of ‘DRS’. This will be the latest version of DR. Or with the help of the system it will be of great help in taking measurable decisions. The reports given by ESPN claim that SRS and not DRS will be used in IPL 2024.

Or the report says that, as soon as Hawk arrives, eight high-speed cameras will be placed throughout the grounds. Smart replay system will be used to increase the accuracy and speed of decision making. As soon as the two operators arrive, they will be with TV Pancha. Live input will be received from TV Panchanna or both Hawk Eye operators. With the help of eight high speed cameras, the Hawk will telecast the photos to the TV. Till now he is a TV broadcast director, third umpire and a Hawkeye operator. Or in the Navya system, the TV director’s assistant will be both Hawkeye operators.

Till now, the split screen of the fielder’s feet and hands while facing the broadcaster could not be shown simultaneously. But in the new system, the umpire can see in the split screen when the ball is caught and when it is bowled. Until IPL 2023, Hawk Eye cameras will be primarily used for ball tracking and ultra edge. Therefore, broadcasters used their own camera footage extensively for referrals on any field other than LBW and the edge of the wicket. This includes referrals for stumping, run out, catch and overthrow.

The new system for stumping will give three photos to the TV umpire. Front on footage from the side on camera will also be visible at the same time. The front on camera angle is important because a clear photo is obtained after the bells are pushed. Below is footage from the broadcaster’s stump cam showing each arm being shot. But stump cameras record action at about 50 frames per second or faster, while hocky cameras record at about 300 frames per second.
