Sub-junior South Zone Hockey: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu on top in women’s, men’s categories

Chennai . Hockey The hockey units of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu advanced to the group stage finals of the inaugural Hockey India Sub Junior Men and Women South Zone Championship 2023 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Monday.
In the sub-junior women’s category, Hockey Andhra Pradesh topped the list with 12 points, followed by Tamil Nadu’s hockey unit at the second position with 11 points.
Hockey After securing the top two positions in the points table, hockey units of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have confirmed their places in the finals and will clash for the title on Tuesday.
Hockey Karnataka and Kerala Hockey finished third and fourth with 10 and 7 points respectively and will face each other in the third/fourth place match.
In the sub-junior men’s category, Hockey Tamil Nadu’s hockey unit topped the table with 13 points, while Hockey Karnataka stood second with 11 points.
Now both the teams will face each other in the final on Tuesday evening. Hockey Andhra Pradesh and Le Puducherry Hockey finished third and fourth with 9 and 6 points respectively and will face each other in the third/fourth place match.
In the first match of the day, in the sub-junior women’s category, Tamil Nadu Hockey Unit defeated Le Puducherry Hockey 6-0. For the Tamil Nadu hockey unit, captain Swati S (8′, 19′) and Swati Sharma S (6′, 42′) scored two goals each, while Priyadarshini K (57′) and Haritha J (9′) Scored a goal.
In the second match, Hockey Karnataka won 8-1 over Kerala Hockey.
