Surat: “Horse racing competition” held in Pipariya village of Mandvi, know which horses were the center of attraction

Real sports are dying because of games like cricket, football and hockey, one of which is horse racing. Competitions like horse racing were given importance during the reign of kings. But now-a-days such events are organized once in a while. In this sequence, a horse race was organized in Pipariya village of Mandvi taluk of Surat district. More than 100 horses participated from across the state including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kutch. In this program, the Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi started the competition by showing the green flag.

This was a small effort by the Tiger Horse Association to keep horse racing alive. As part of this, a horse race was organized by the group on the banks of Tapi river in Pipariya village of Mandvi taluka. Horse owners from all over the state reached Pipariya of Mandvi to participate in the competition. Especially the horse named Udaan from Kutch, Pratap and Shivaji from Waghara in Bharuch, Kavin from Balotra in Rajasthan became the center of attraction.

More than 100 horses participated in the horse racing competition organized at Pipariya in Mandvi. In these, two types of competitions Nani Rawal and Moti Rawal were organized. In Nani Rawal competition, horses run in herd at a speed of 25 to 30 km. Whereas in Moti Rawal, horses run at a speed of 35 to 40 km. The jockey just has to hold the reins and sit on the horse without moving. Along with the horse, the judges also watch the movements of the horse and the jockey sitting on it.

In this horse racing competition held at Pipariya, Mandvi, the winners of the first, second and third rank horses are honored with cash prizes and trophies. Such competitions, held hardly once a year, have preserved the culture of India.
