Grappling World Championship was organized in Moscow, Russia from 17 to 19 November. In which India’s grappling team has won the title of champion by winning 105 medals. In this competition, India won 23 gold, 30 silver and 52 bronze medals and captured the number one trophy by defeating Russia.

Grappling is a type of wrestling, in which mostly Russia has been on top, but this time the Indian team has set a world record by defeating the Russian team. 86 players of India performed brilliantly with great strength and enthusiasm and fulfilled the dreams of Prime Minister Modi ji by winning the Champion Trophy by defeating all the countries one after the other. The national grappling team from India was led by GCI Chairman Dinesh Kapoor, Birju Sharma, Vinod Sharma Vijay Saganwan and Subhash Dawar, Chairman of Surat Gujarat based company Alliance. The Indian team had seven women players from Gujarat, who performed brilliantly and won 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 models.

To boost the enthusiasm of the players, before the departure of the team to Moscow, many well-known dignitaries and film stars of the country had sent the players off wishing them well. These dignitaries included Gujarat Sports and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. All these good wishes filled a different enthusiasm among the players and the players did what the countrymen had expected. It is a matter of great pride for our country that even though we could not win the World Cup in Cricket, but in Grappling we have defeated 19 countries and compensated for the lack of winning the Champion Cricket World Cup.
