New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav, once considered a guarantee of scoring runs, is going through the worst phase of his career. In the last six innings, he was dismissed for the fourth time without scoring a golden duck i.e. on the first ball. After the ODI series against Australia, now he is proving to be a flop in the IPL as well. In the thrilling match played against the hosts Delhi Capitals last night, the Mumbai batsman walked on the very first ball. The 50-over ODI World Cup is to be held in India this year, so the form of this star middle order batsman is a major cause of concern for the team. Where is the problem? In the 16th over of the second innings, Suryakumar Yadav handed over his catch to Kuldeep Yadav, posted on the final leg, in the process of hitting his favorite pull shot on the short ball of Pacer Mukesh Kumar. There was no proper connection between the bat and the ball. This batsman did not perform as per expectations even in the first two matches of the current season of IPL. Only one run was scored against RCB and 15 against Chennai Super Kings. By sending Surya back, Mukesh also got Delhi back in the match. After taking 16 runs in the first four balls of the over, Mukesh took two consecutive wickets in the last two balls.
Somehow Mumbai won
Chasing 173 runs from here, Mumbai Indians got into trouble. It seemed that the innings of captain Rohit Sharma (65 runs in 45 balls, six fours, four sixes), Ishaan Kishan (31) and Tilak Verma (29 runs in 41 balls, one four, four sixes) would go in vain, but Cameron Green (17 not out) and Tim David (13 not out) won the match by scoring five runs in the last over and the required one off the last ball.
