Eighth seed Sen crashed out of the men’s singles event after losing 18-21 11-21. But Mithun Manjunath registered a straight game 21-8 21-17 win over Netherlands’ Joran Queeckel to enter the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals. He will now face qualifier Chia Hao Li of Chinese Taipei. In women’s doubles, the pair of Sikki Reddy and Aarthi Sara Sunil also bowed out after losing in the first round. India’s second seeded men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Malaysia’s Jin Yuan Boon and Tien Si Wong 21-15 21-18 to book a place in the pre-quarterfinals.
