Team India could not properly capitalize on Siraj’s havoc, lost 6 wickets in 11 balls, all out at 153.

Cape Town (Uttam Hindu News)-The first day of the second and final Test between India and South Africa was in the name of the bowlers. Mohammed Siraj bowled lethally and took six wickets for 15 runs, reducing South Africa to just 55 runs. South Africa also counter-attacked and bowled out India for 153 runs but India managed to take a lead of 98 runs. At one time Team India’s score was 153/4 but from here the team lost the remaining 6 wickets within 11 balls.

By tea time, India had scored 111 runs by losing four wickets and after tea time, India added 42 runs and lost its remaining six wickets. Virat Kohli was out as the eighth batsman after scoring 46 runs in 59 balls with the help of six fours and one six. It can hardly be believed that when the Indian team was heading towards a big lead, they lost six wickets at the score of 153. Siraj was being remembered in the first session but Lungisani Ngidi’s maiden over, including three wickets in one over, could hardly be forgotten. The continuous falling of wickets spoiled Kohli’s mind so much that he too started going towards aggression and lost the wickets. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada, Lungisani Ngidi and Nandre Berger took three wickets each. Siraj was run out.

India tried to bat with a positive mindset in the second session of the first day and scored a total of 111 runs, although four wickets also fell in this sequence. At one point it seemed that India had got a good start but Burger’s three-wicket spell spoiled India’s good start.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal was out without opening the account on the team’s score of 17, captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 55 runs for the second wicket. Rohit became the victim of the burger after scoring 39 runs and Gill 36 while Shreyas Iyer became the third victim of the burger without opening the account.
