After trailing by 19 points in the first half, Telugu Titans made a strong comeback in the second half, but despite this, high-flyer Pawan Sehrawat’s team was defeated in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) played at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor (SMS) Indoor Stadium here on Friday. In the 67th match of the 10th season, the team faced defeat by three points against the host Jaipur Pink Panthers. Reigning champions Pink Panthers made a winning start at home, defeating Telugu Titans 38-35.

In this clash between high-flyer Pawan Sehrawat and Arjun Deshwal, Arjun scored 14 points while Pawan scored 12 points. Apart from them, Jaipur Pink Panthers continued their unbeaten streak this season and registered their seventh win in 11 matches. The team has now reached second position after 43 points. Telugu Titans have suffered their 11th defeat in 12 matches.

Reigning champions Jaipur Pink Panthers made a stellar start at home and took a huge lead in the first half of the game. The host team kept itself ahead in the match in the initial minutes thanks to the strong performance of its star player Arjun Deshwal. But at one time both the teams were tied at 4-4. However, after this, Jaipur Pink Panthers put themselves ahead in the competition. By the 10th minute, Jaipur team was ahead by five points and made the score 10-5.

Till the 15th minute, the team had a lead of 10 points and its score was 18-8. Arjun Deshwal scored his seventh Super-10 in the very next minute. On the strength of their impenetrable defence, Jaipur Pink Panthers once again all out Telugu Titans in the 17th minute itself taking the score to 25-8. The defending champions scored consecutive points in the last minutes of the first half to take the score to 27-8 at half time and take a lead of 19 points.

After this, in the 25th minute of the second half, Telugu Titans added two points to their account by making a super tackle on Arjun Deshwal. However, in the very next minute, Rezamir Bagheri completed his high-5 and pushed Telugu further back in the match. But in the 29th minute, Telugu Titans all out Jaipur Pink Panthers to reduce the lead to 12 points. But the score was still 34-21 in favor of Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Telugu Titans then started making a comeback and in the 32nd minute, Sandeep Dhull hit his high-5. By the 35th minute, Jaipur’s lead was reduced to only eight points and the score was 35-27. Meanwhile, on the strength of high-flyer Pawan Sehrawat, Telugu Titans all out Jaipur for the second time. Jaipur now had a lead of only five points.

In the last two minutes, Pawan made the match more exciting by scoring consecutive points for Telugu Titans. But Arjun gave Jaipur a lead of five points by dismissing Pawan. The defending champions then maintained their lead and registered a thrilling 38-35 win despite a brilliant comeback by Telugu.
