The dead body of a married woman was found hanging on 13 May 2020 in Digghi village of Madhusudanpur police station area. In the said case, on the statement of Neelam Devi, resident of Aliganj Gangti, mother of the deceased Rani Kumari, a case of dowry death was registered against the deceased’s husband Senu Yadav, daughter and her in-laws. Recently, during the ongoing hearing in the court of ADJ-16 Vishwa Vibhuti Gupta, the main accused Sonu Yadav was declared guilty. After this, a hearing on the point of punishment was held in the case on Thursday, in which APP Shriprakash Bhagat took part, arguing on behalf of the government. After hearing the arguments of the government side and the defense side, the court sentenced Sonu Yadav, the main accused in the case, to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000. APP told that the mother of the deceased had filed a case alleging that after getting her daughter Rani married to Dighi resident Senu Yadav in 2017, a dowry of Rs 5 lakh was being given to the mother. Due to this, the daughter’s in-laws used to torture her and on the day of the incident, the said people killed her daughter and hanged her body.
