The condition of Pakistani cricket team is bad: Mickey Arthur – Dainik Savera Times

New Delhi: Former Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur has expressed concern over the poor condition of the Pakistani cricket team. Cricket in Pakistan had seen a change in the corridors of power with a completely new coaching staff as well as new captains. Mohammad Hafeez took charge of the team as team director following the exit of Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn following the 2023 ODI World Cup. Arthur stressed the importance of fostering a safe team environment. Given that in situations where there is an overall feeling of insecurity, players begin to prioritize their personal interests.
Arthur said, ‘Pakistan is very good when there is an environment of security there. When there is insecurity, players start playing for themselves rather than the team because they are thinking about the next tour and the next contract. ‘There is a huge amount of talent there. There are some world class players there, not just talented players. They have not been given the support structure they need to move forward.
Mohammad Hafeez, an experienced player of the team, repeated Arthur’s words. He blamed lack of focus for the defeats in Australia and New Zealand. The collaboration between Mickey Arthur and Pakistan cricket has had its golden moments, including the 2017 Champions Trophy success. The coach had led the team to significant success in the Test and T20 rankings, but the partnership ended on a sour note.
Despite the bitter end of their relationship, Arthur admitted that his passion for Pakistan cricket was waning. I still follow Pakistan cricket and always will. But the zeal, thirst and passion that I had for Pakistan cricket has now diminished a bit. To be honest, I think Pakistan cricket is in a very disappointing situation.
