‘The ‘School of Athletics’ is being targeted since I became a Rajya Sabha MP!’ : P T Usha

Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha held a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday regarding illegal construction on the land of ‘Usha School of Athletics’ in Kozhikode, Kerala. Meanwhile, she became emotional while speaking. Usha said- It is a matter of safety of girls, how can anyone enter the campus without the permission of the girls. He said that the illegal construction was in the knowledge of Panagarh Panchayat. Safety of other athletes including girls training there should be ensured. The Chief Minister should intervene in this matter. He further said that ever since I became a Rajya Sabha MP, ‘Usha School of Athletics’ has been targeted, personal attacks have been made on me. A complaint has been lodged with the police in this regard.

PT Usha is the first woman president of IOA

Let us tell you that PT Usha is currently the President of the Indian Olympic Association. She is the first woman President of IOA. PT Usha was nominated to the Rajya Sabha on 6 July 2022. The BJP government at the Center had recommended PT Usha’s name to the then President Ram Nath Kovind for nomination to the Rajya Sabha. PT Usha finished fourth in the 400 meters hurdles event at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. She missed the bronze medal by 100th of a second. She is considered among the top female athletes in Asia in track and field events. PT Usha has won hundreds of competitions at international and national level along with Asian Games, Commonwealth Games in her career.

There is no doubt about the fact that PT Usha is an inspiration for every Indian. He is known for his achievements in the sports world. It is now training new athletes. She is running her own academy in Kerala. PT Usha, 58, has also done well in the Asian Games. He won a total of 23 medals in the Asian Championships. Which includes 14 gold medals. He last won gold in 4x100m race in 1998.

On the other hand, talking about her personal life, PT Usha, born in a poor family of Kerala on 27 June 1964, was interested in sports since childhood. Seeing his brilliant performance, the Government of Kerala gave him a scholarship of Rs.250. PT Usha started running when she was in the fourth standard. The turning point in Usha’s life came when Om Nambiar saw her at the National School Games in 1976. Then Nambiar trained him.
