This experienced batsman of Pakistan retired from International Cricket – Dainik Savera Times

New Delhi: Pakistan’s veteran batsman Javeria Khan has announced her retirement from international cricket, ending her 15-year long career. Javeria made her ODI debut against Sri Lanka in a Women’s Asia Cup match in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka on 6 May 2008 and her T20 debut against Ireland in Dublin in 2009. She represented the Pakistan women’s team in 228 international matches and scored 4,903 runs, which included 2 centuries and 25 half-centuries. Whereas, he also took 28 wickets with his off-break bowling.

Javeria said, ‘I want to announce my retirement. I will be available for league cricket. I am grateful for the unwavering support I have received throughout my career. I would like to thank my family, teammates, all the supporters including the Pakistan Cricket Board for their support and guidance every step of the way, whose appreciation has helped bring out the best in me. I have got the privilege of holding the flag of Pakistan, it is most special for me.

The 35-year-old retired as the second leading run scorer for the Pakistan women’s team in ODIs and T20Is and is the only Pakistan female cricketer, apart from fellow batsman Bismah Maroof, to have scored more than 2,000 runs in each format. Javeria represented Pakistan in four ODI World Cups (2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022) and all eight T20 World Cups (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2023).

She was also a part of the Pakistan women’s team that won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games held in China and South Korea. She also captained the Pakistan women’s team in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is. Of the 16 T20s, she has captained the team in two editions of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (2018 and 2020). The 35-year-old Karachi-born player had also participated in the PCB Level 2 Cricket Coaches Course held in Lahore in August last year.
