“Right now I am working in the medical field,” Oruj told PTI after Germany’s 3-0 win over Chile in the women’s Olympic qualifiers. It’s quite easy because I’m not working in a clinic. So I can work on weekends. Till the Olympics I will concentrate on hockey but eventually I will have to leave hockey and work as a full-time doctor.
He said, “In Germany, to make a career in the medical field, you have to study for seven years and then ‘practice’ in a hospital for one year. After this you become an expert in five years. I am currently working as a Pediatrician and specializing in the field of Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat. It is good to start with this because children always have problems related to these things.
“This is my first year and I have to spend four more years to gain expertise,” Oruj said. I recently completed my doctoral thesis. But my focus right now is on hockey and I need some time to complete my studies in the medical field. I don’t care about it because participating in the Olympics has its own importance and after this I can focus my entire life on the medical field.” Oruj played an important role in Germany’s victory against Chile. He scored the first goal for the team.
