New Delhi:The second match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from Friday, February 17. In which Team India’s experienced and veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara will become the 13th player from India to play 100 or more Test matches as soon as he steps on the field. For which his fellow player and experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised him fiercely. Ashwin praised Pujara saying that Pujara is the greatest player to play against spin.
Please tell that Pujara will join the elite list of Indian players who have played 100 or more Tests. So far, a total of 12 players have done this feat for India. Significantly, 35-year-old Pujara made his debut in Test cricket against Australia. He is now also going to play his 100th Test match against the same team. Ashwin said about Pujara, ‘Pujara plays very well against spin. During these years of knowing him, I have seen very closely.’
Ashwin recalled the magic of Pat Cummins in the 2018/19 series and said that Pujara’s stubbornness had ruined his best bowling attack. He said, ‘Pat Cummins bowls well. But Pujara impressed him a lot. When I saw him for the first time, his stubbornness was such that he ripped apart the best attacks with his defensive mind.
Ashwin revealed that he used to call Pujara Mirugam, which means animal. Like a middle order batsman, he concentrates on his batting. That’s exactly how the animal focuses on its prey. However, India won the first match played in Nagpur by defeating the visiting team Australia by an innings and 132 runs. Team India is currently ahead 1-0 in the series. Cheteshwar Pujara will hit a unique century in Delhi, will be included in this special record list
