Dallas (USA). Tommy Paul defeated compatriot Marcos Giron 7–6 (7–3), 5–7, 6–3 in the All-American final to win the Dallas Open trophy, his second ATP Tour title. This is also his first major win since 2021 in Stockholm.
Tommy Paul held on to his lead in the deciding set in a thrilling match on the campus of Southern Methodist University.
Giron entered the final in strong style after earning consecutive top 20 wins against top seed Frances Tiafoe and fourth seed Adrian Mannarino.
When he won the second set, it looked like he could use the momentum to secure his first ATP Tour title.
But, Paul looked slightly better under pressure. According to Infosys ATP Stats, the second seed saved four of the six break points he faced and converted two of his chances.
After the match, Paul said, “It was an incredible match. The best final I have played in my career so far.”
After Sunday’s title win, Paul moved up to No. 14 in the ATP rankings, which will move him to No. 2 among American players behind Taylor Fritz.
