Two day State Judo Championship 2023-24 begins in Chandigarh, Punjab-Chandigarh News in Hindi

Chandigarh. The two-day State Judo Championship 2023-24, to be organized by the Amateur Judo Association of Chandigarh on June 20 and 21, began at the Sports Complex, Sector 34, Chandigarh. Punjab Principal Secretary Sumer Singh declared the championship open by wishing all the best to all the participants of the competition. This was followed by the events of Sub Junior State Judo Championship, Junior State Judo Championship 2023-24.
In these events, the participants displayed their sportsmanship and tasted victory by defeating their opponents. Honorary Secretary of Amateur Judo Association of Chandigarh NS Thakur said that in this two-day championship judo events are being organized in sub-junior, junior, cadet and senior categories.
To encourage and honor the participants who were victorious in the events, Santosh Kataria – MLA Balachor Punjab attended the medal ceremony as the chief guest. He said that the children who were victorious in the Cadet and Senior categories would participate in the championship to be held in Karnataka. Today there are events in sub-junior and junior categories and on Wednesday there will be events in cadet and senior categories. Gold, Silver and 2 Bronze medals will be given to the winning children.
Around 200 school and college going children are participating in this championship and all these participants are from Chandigarh only. Efforts are made in the form of an association to secure the future of the children. For example, children get free education in schools and admission in sports quota in colleges. If the children perform well in sports, then full cooperation is given by the association for their preparation in the Olympics as well. Later on, they do not face any problem in getting their children a government job.
Chief guest Sumer Singh congratulated the association while giving best wishes to all the participants. He said that the association has taken a commendable step in the direction of keeping children away from wrong company and drugs. Such efforts should also be done at other NGO and government level. This new generation is the future of the country, if we keep them engaged in sports and encourage them, then the future of the country will be bright.
