Jerusalem. UEFA has announced that no matches will be held in Israel until further notice.
UEFA said it had taken the decision after taking stock of the current security situation across the territory of Israel, Xinhua reported.
Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa, which participates in the UEFA Europa League, and Maccabi Tel Aviv, which are part of the UEFA Europa Conference League, have been asked to work with the IFA to offer alternative stadiums outside Israel for their home matches.
Many matches have been postponed before this. However, there was a possibility of the match taking place but now all matches in Israel have been suspended until further notice.
Israel is scheduled to host UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Switzerland and Romania on November 15 and 18 respectively. If UEFA’s decision still remains in effect, both matches will be played at a neutral venue.
