Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Singh Thakur Said on Friday that Uttar Pradesh was earlier known for riots but now it is known for sports riots. Indira Gandhi Foundation, Lucknow Khelo India University Games Addressing the logo, mascot, jersey, song and torch launch program of the third season of U.P., Thakur said, ‘Uttar Pradesh which was earlier known for riots, is now known for Khelo ke Dangal.’ More than 4700 players from more than 200 universities are participating in these games to be held in four cities from May 25 to June 3.
Center of Games India will be built in every district of UP
Anurag Thakur said that Khelo India, which was launched by the Prime Minister, not only seeks out players but also grooms them. He said that Khelo India centers will be set up in every district of Uttar Pradesh. Thakur said that Khelo India has completed five years just a few days ago and it has progressed very fast. He said, ‘The players have also done the work of winning medals for the country and today I can say that the third biggest event of Khelo India University Games is going to be held in Uttar Pradesh. The way Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has worked to promote sports here and now Uttar Pradesh has got the hosting of the Khelo India Games.
Players of Uttar Pradesh will win medals for the country
He said that I can say that the day is not far when India will win medals in any corner of the world, Uttar Pradesh will contribute a lot in that. In his address, the Union Minister said that the Prime Minister has made a provision of Rs 3,200 crore for Khelo India so that the players do not face any kind of inconvenience and by winning medals in the Olympics, they can promote India’s name on the world stage. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that these games will prove to be a milestone in promoting sports among the youth of the state.
Yogi gave assurance of big event
CM Yogi said, ‘Uttar Pradesh is not only the most populous state today, but every event held here also becomes the biggest. I assure that this will be the biggest event ever. In the third Khelo India University Games, there will be competitions in 21 disciplines and sailing events will be there for the first time. The matches will be held in Varanasi, Noida, Gorakhpur and Lucknow. Shooting events will be held at Delhi’s Karni Singh range. On this occasion, Adityanath and Thakur also started the torch relay. These four torches will travel to every district of the state before returning to Lucknow on May 25.
