Victory slips from the hands of Gujarat Titans, Delhi wins by five runs

Ahmedabad (Uttam Hindu News): Gujarat Titans suffered a five-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, despite brilliant innings from Hardik Pandya (59 not out) and Rahul Tewatia (20 runs, seven balls).

In the 19th over, Tewatia had turned the match in Gujarat’s favor by hitting three consecutive sixes, but Ishant Sharma got the last over, who took full advantage of his experience by getting Tewatia out on the fourth ball of the 20th over, Gujarat’s hopes But turned the water. Ishant and Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets each.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans stopped Delhi Capitals for 130 runs with the help of fast bowler Mohammed Shami (11/4). Shami bowled the best of his IPL career, taking four wickets for 11 runs in four overs. The Capitals’ troubles did not end there and Warner, who scored the most runs for them, was run out in the next over.

Shami then got Priyam Garg (10), Riley Russo (08) and Manish Pandey (01) caught out by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha while teaching the Capitals a lesson in swing bowling.

Akshar Patel and Aman Hakim Khan handled the innings after Capitals fell for just 23 runs for five wickets. There was a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket between the two, although they played 48 balls for this. Akshar scored 27 runs in 30 balls with two fours and a six. Before he could increase the pace of the innings, Mohit Sharma returned him to the pavilion.

Capitals needed good batting in the death overs after scoring just 78 runs in 15 overs. Aman Hakim Khan and Ripple Patel shared a quick 51-run partnership to take their team to a respectable score. Aman, who scored only 24 runs in the initial 32 balls, completed his fifty in 41 balls while gaining momentum in the last over. This is Aman’s first fifty in any format of the game.

Ripple played an inning of 23 runs in 13 balls while supporting Aman. Rashid Khan, however, ended the Capitals’ hopes of reaching 150 runs by picking up the wicket of Aman in the 19th over. Mohit dismissed Ripple in the last over, conceding just three runs as Delhi managed to post 130/8 in 20 overs.

Mohit, who completed 100 wickets in IPL, took two wickets for 33 runs in four overs. Rashid achieved a breakthrough by giving 28 runs in four overs.
