LondonAustralia batsman Usman Khawaja has said that his fellow opener David Warner is training hard and looks set for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India and the Ashes series against England. He did not perform well in the series against India but after that he did well in the Indian Premier League playing for Delhi Capitals and scored 516 runs in 14 matches.
Khawaja told the ICC, “I saw him practicing for the last two days and I don’t want to watch him but he looks in very good shape.” Australia has been included in the team. The selectors have also included Marcus Harris and Matt Renshaw as substitutes but Khawaja believes Warner will be at his best if he is included in the playing XI.
Khawaja said, “I have seen him perform so well in the nets in recent times. It’s not always about scoring runs, but if there is ever an opportunity for David Warner to score runs, it could be this tour. He has always performed well in adverse conditions.
