New Delhi: Star Australia batsman Usman Khawaja says his fellow opener David Warner is training hard and looks set for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India and the Ashes series against England. Warner was not able to perform well in the four-match Test series against India earlier this year, but after that he managed to do well in the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2023, playing for Delhi Capitals. He scored 516 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.86 with 6 half-centuries. Khawaja told the ICC, ‘I saw him practicing for the last two days and I don’t want to keep an eye on him but he looks in very good shape.’
Warner has been included in Australia’s squad for the WTC final and the first two matches of the Ashes. The selectors have also included Marcus Harris and Matt Renshaw as substitutes but Khawaja believes Warner will be at his best if he is included in the playing XI.

Khawaja said, ‘I have seen such a great performance of him in the nets in recent times. It’s not always about scoring runs, but if there is ever an opportunity for David Warner to score runs, it could be this tour. He has always performed well in adverse conditions.
Let us tell you that on June 7, the final match of the World Test Championship 2023 between the Indian cricket team and Australia will be played at the Oval ground in London. Team India has reached the final of WTC for the second time in a row. In 2021, India was defeated by New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final.
