But the selectors did not pick him and declared Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain. Dhawan told PTI on Thursday, “When my name was not in the team for the Asian Games, I was a bit surprised. But then I felt that his thought process would be different, you have to accept that. Happy that Rutu (Gaikwad) will lead the team. It has all young players, I am sure they will do well. ,
With Shubman Gill joining Rohit Sharma at the top of the batting order, it looks like the Indian team has now left Dhawan behind as he became a one-day format player until he was dropped from the ODI squad after the Bangladesh tour in December 2022. had gone Dhawan, who has been India’s top ODI batsman for the last decade, said he does not know what will happen in the future but if an opportunity comes his way, he will be ready for it.
Dhawan said, “I will definitely be ready (to return). That’s why I am keeping myself fit (so that I am ready whenever the opportunity comes). There is always a chance, whether it is one percent or 20 percent. He said, “I still enjoy training and I enjoy playing, these things are in my control, whatever the decision is, I respect it.” Dhawan is still a centrally contracted cricketer and spends a lot of time at the National Cricket Academy.
