In today’s match, West Indies scored 149 runs for six wickets in the first T20 International cricket match against India due to the excellent innings of Captain Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran. Apart from scoring 48 runs in 32 balls with three sixes and three fours, Powell also shared 38 runs for the fourth wicket with Nicholas Pooran (41 runs) and 38 runs for the fifth wicket with Shimron Hetmyer (10 runs). Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav gave West Indies the third blow by getting Johnson Charles (03) caught by debutant Tilak Verma.

Puran, however, was caught by Verma at the boundary in an attempt to play a big shot off Pandya’s ball. He hit two fours and two sixes while facing 34 balls.

Shimron Hetmyer completed the team’s century in the 15th over with fours on Pandya. Powell got a second life in the same over of Pandya when Chahal dropped his easy catch in the covers. Taking advantage of this, Powell took the very next ball to the audience for six runs. In the next over, Powell also hit a straight six over Chahal and then hit fours and sixes off Arshdeep’s consecutive balls. Arshdeep gave a double blow to the West Indies by dismissing Hetmyer and Powell in the 19th over. In an attempt to play a big shot, Hetmyer handed over a catch to Akshar, while Powell caught Suryakumar on the log. India gave debut opportunity to batsman Tilak and Mukesh. Mukesh made his debut in all three formats of the game on the current tour.
