Newly elected President of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Sanjay Singh Said on Thursday that the Sports Ministry did not follow proper procedure while suspending the national wrestling body. They will challenge this decision of the government in court. The Sports Ministry on Sunday suspended the WFI, three days after the elections. The ministry had said that it had violated its own constitution in taking some decisions, including the announcement of the Under-15 and Under-20 national championships. Sanjay Singh said that the government wfi It cannot suspend their autonomous and democratically elected institution without hearing their side.

Demand from the government to withdraw the suspension
He said that despite this, if we are suspended, we will not accept it. The democratically elected institution was not given a chance to present its case, which is against the principles of justice. On what would be the next step for WFI, he said, ‘WFI is an autonomous organization and the government did not follow the proper procedure. We will talk to the government and if the government does not withdraw the suspension, we will take legal opinion and approach the court.
Will not accept the decision of the ad hoc committee
Sanjay said that since WFI is opposing the suspension, he does not accept the three-member ad-hoc committee formed by the IOA. On Wednesday, IOA had constituted a three-member committee to look after the functioning of WFI. Sanjay also said that when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached the Akhara in Haryana to meet Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia, it became clear that the trio (Bajrang, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik) is doing politics.
Some wrestlers are performing for their own benefit
Sanjay, close to former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, said, ‘It is clear that they (Bajrang, Vinesh and Sakshi) have the support of Congress and Left parties. All three are working according to these political parties. He said, ‘You tell me any fourth wrestler who is opposing WFI. These three do not want junior wrestlers to move forward, they want to snatch the rights of junior wrestlers.
