Melbourne: Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh says he will not experiment as captain in the upcoming limited-overs tour of South Africa and instead follow the same pattern as regular captain Pat Cummins and coach Andrew McDonald. .
Cummins is currently recovering from a wrist injury and in his absence, the 31-year-old Marsh has been handed the captaincy of Australia’s T20 and ODI teams. Marsh told cricket.co.au, “I probably won’t do any new experiments. I believe the most important thing I’ve learned in leadership skills is to be honest with myself.
“Commis and Macdonald have created a great environment within our team and I hope to build on that in the T20 format and create an environment where the players really enjoy playing cricket for Australia,” he said.
Marsh expressed hope that the Cummins will show faith in him during the ODI World Cup in India. He said, “I believe that the biggest quality of Pat is that he remains independent on other players while captaining. He is playing a wonderful role.
Marsh said, ‘Being a bowler it is not possible for him to play every match in every format and so there are players he can rely on. We are good friends and I know he can count on me and I can count on him.
