London: India’s Rohan Bopanna and his men’s doubles partner Matthew Ebden of Australia have made it to the second round of Wimbledon. Rohan and Matthew Ebden defeated the Argentinian pair of Guillermo Duran and Tomás Echeverri in a hard-fought match. The sixth seeded pair of India and Australia defeated the Argentinian pair 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (10-8) in their first round match.The match lasted two hours and 12 minutes . Bopanna, 43, and Ebden, 35, who won two doubles titles on the ATP Tour earlier this year, will next face unseeded British pair of Jacob Fearnley and Yohannes Mande on Sunday.
Bopanna and Ebden won the Qatar Open in February, while in March the Indian player became the oldest player to win a Masters Series tournament (ATP1000) at Indian Wells in the US. Bopanna then broke the record held by Canadian Daniel Nestor, who won the Cincinnati Masters in 2015 at the age of 42.
