The women’s coach said that she has been ‘doing her work with utmost discipline and rules’. He said, ‘I am not anyone’s slave. I am not ready to take a single step back. Let them dismiss my service, but I will fight for my rights. The women’s coach said, “If someone is suspended, then as per the rule, he is warned first.” The women’s coach alleged, ‘He directly handed over the order of suspension. On Friday I was made to wait and I was not allowed to mark my attendance in the register. No official of the sports department told me that I have been suspended. On Monday evening, he handed over the suspension order to me at my residence.

He said, ‘I am a player. My entry into track (athletics) has been restricted for four months and what can be more painful for a sportsperson than this. The sports department and the government have taken away my basic rights from me. But I am capable of fighting this battle alone. Truth wins in the end.

Sandeep Singh had left the sports department after the case was registered

Sandeep Singh is currently the Minister of State for ‘Printing and Stationery’. He has become an MLA for the first time and has been the captain of the Indian hockey team. Last year, on the complaint of the women coach, he was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (deprivation of her A case was registered under IPC, 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The police later constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Singh had left the sports department after the case was registered and then said that he had taken this step on the basis of morality. At the same time, he had claimed that the allegations leveled against him were baseless. The sports department is currently with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
