The Women’s Premier League will have teams from Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow. Ahmedabad has been bought by Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd for Rs 1289 crore. And Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd has bought the Mumbai franchise. For this the company has given Rs 912.99 crore. Apart from this, teams from Delhi, Lucknow and Bangalore will also participate in the Women’s Premier League. He will have ownership of the teams for 10 years.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah wrote on Twitter – Today is a historic day in cricket as the teams bid for the inaugural WPL broke the record set by the inaugural Men’s IPL in 2008. Congratulations to the winners as we have secured Rs 4669.99 crore in total bid. He further wrote – WPL will bring necessary reforms in women’s cricket and ensure an all-encompassing ecosystem that benefits every stakeholder.
Earlier, the BCCI had sold the media rights of the league to Viacom-18 for Rs 951 crore, which would fetch Rs 7 crore 90 thousand per match for five years. Women’s IPL matches can be played in March. Before that there will also be an auction of the players. This year, the franchise will have a purse of Rs 12 crore to buy players. It will increase every year.
