Women wrestlers reached Supreme Court to demand submission of affidavit in sealed cover, hearing tomorrow

President of Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh On Wednesday, seven women wrestlers, who have made allegations of sexual harassment, filed an affidavit in a sealed cover. Supreme Court Knocked on the door. Delhi Police had registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan on 28 April. The counsel for the women wrestlers on Wednesday placed the issue before a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha and said that they seek permission to submit the affidavit in a sealed cover before the court. The matter will be heard on Thursday.
Affidavit will be given to the investigating officer
He said that he has no objection in giving a copy of the affidavit to the Solicitor General but it should not be made public. The bench allowed it and the advance copy would be given to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. Mehta told the bench that since the investigation of the case is going on, the petitioners should also give this material to the investigating officer. Mehta sought its permission, which was granted by the court.
PT Usha met the protesting wrestlers
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha on Wednesday met the protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar and assured them of support. Former sprinter Usha had earlier strongly criticized the wrestlers for starting the protest again instead of approaching the IOA for their issues. He had said that the wrestlers should have shown discipline. After this comment, he and the IOA were criticized.
PT Usha did not talk to the media
PT Usha left without talking to the media but Bajrang Poonia said that he has assured help. Bajrang told the media that initially when he said this, we felt very bad but then he said that his comments were misinterpreted. He said that he is an athlete first and an administrator second. Punia said that we told him that we want justice. We have no quarrel with the government or the opposition or anyone else. We are sitting here for the betterment of wrestling. If this issue is resolved and the allegations are proved then legal action should be taken.
