Bulandshahr (UP) : Bulandshahr all-rounder Parshvi Chopra, who played a key role in India’s title win in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup tournament, was once a skating lover but now cricket has become her life. India captured the title by defeating England by seven wickets in the final of the first Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup on Sunday. In this victory, 16-year-old leg-break bowler Parshvi took two important wickets for just 13 runs in four overs.
While there is an atmosphere of celebration across the country on India’s historic victory, there is happiness in Parshvi’s father Gaurav Chopra’s house in Secunderabad, Bulandshahr. After India’s title win, Parshvi’s relatives danced to the beat of drums and distributed sweets at her ancestral home, Secunderabad. Parshvi’s father told PTI, “Parshvi used to watch cricket matches since childhood. But in the beginning she had a passion for skating and she was doing very well in it but suddenly her mind shifted from skating to cricket. Now cricket has become his life.
Chopra said that he is very happy that his daughter is an important part of the Indian team that won the historic victory.
He said, “We have never allowed any shortcoming in the coaching of Parshvi. Parshvi has joined two academies so that she gets a chance to learn everyday. An academy runs only three to four days a week. He said that Parshvi has achieved the first step of success. There is still a long way to go and the age of learning never ends.
Parshvi’s mother Sheetal Chopra told that Parshvi has been working hard on sports since she was 10 years old. She gave her first trial when she was 12 years old, but was not selected then. After that he was selected at the age of 13. She has also played Under-16.
