New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Jasmine Lamboria and Shashi Chopra entered the next round of the Mahindra IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships with impressive victories on Friday. Jasmine, one of India’s most accomplished young boxers, opened her campaign with a Referee Stopping the Contests (ASC) win against Tanzania’s Nyambega Beatrice Ambrose in the 60kg round of 32 bout at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex. The 21-year-old boxer from Haryana started her attack on the front foot with intent and unleashed a flurry of punches to take her opponent to the ropes in just 12 seconds before being declared the winner in the first round.

After one of the quickest wins of the tournament, Jasmine will next face Tajikistan’s Samadova Mijgona. Shashi, on the other hand, also defeated Kenya’s Mwangi Theresia 5-0 in the 63kg category. The Indian proved too strong for her opponent. He won the bout comfortably using his skillful striking and tough defense. She will take on 2022 Asian Championships silver medalist Keito Mai of Japan in the round of 16.
