Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech won the silver medal with her season’s best time of 8:58.98 and another Kenyan, Faith Cherotich, won the bronze medal with a personal best of 9:00.69. Parul Chowdhary was leading the steeplechase in the 200 m split, but lost momentum and finished 11th. Although, till the 2900m split, the Indian athlete was ranked 13th, she jumped two places in the last 100m split. With this, she was able to get 11th position.
Indian team made record in 400 meter relay race
Meanwhile, India’s men’s 4x400m relay team, which qualified for the final for the first time by breaking the Asian record, finished fifth in the final. India’s quartet of Mohammad Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Mohammad Ajmal Variathodi and Rajesh Ramesh clocked 2:59.92 in the final.
Neeraj Chopra won gold
Let us tell you that in the World Athletics Championship, India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished the championship with gold. Neeraj won 88.17 meters javelin throw gold. Neeraj was the first player for India to win gold in the World Athletics Championships. On the other hand, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan came second with a score of 87.82 and got the silver medal.
